Our law firm- EC Teh & Co was established by Mr. Teh in July 2023. Mr. Teh is a seasoned Civil Litigator who has been in active practice since 2017. His legal journey began in November 2016, when he read in the chambers of Joseph Ting & Co. In 2022, he joined Messrs Gan SL & Associates as a Litigation Partner before founding his own firm.
The diverse portfolio of cases handled by Mr Teh covers various areas of law, namely debt recovery, tenancy disputes, unfair dismissal claims, construction matters, shareholders disputes, family law, conspiracy, defamation, strata management issues and estate administration. He has acted as lead and co-counsel for numerous hearings and full trials in all levels of the Malaysian Courts as well as arbitration and tribunal proceedings. In recent years, he has also broadened his practice areas to include corporate and commercial advisory, drafting of business agreements, and conveyancing matters.
Mr Teh has acted as counsel and legal advisor for a wide foray of clientele, including prominent property developers in Klang Valley, stratified property management bodies, senior care service providers, health and wellness companies, social media agencies, multinational corporations, start-ups, and not forgetting esteemed individuals. In addition, Mr Teh also conducts seminars and training sessions on legal topics to corporations and professional associations.
Known for his proactive and hands-on approach, Mr. Teh combines legal expertise with a practical, human touch. He is committed to delivering effective, commercially sound legal solutions that protect and advance his clients’ interests.
Represented a listed developer in numerous construction disputes across different Courts and avenues. Success stories include defending against CIPAA proceedings for alleged rectification costs as well as achieving amicable settlements for disputes involving Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) arbitration and local authorities.
Carried out various eviction proceedings to recover outstanding rental and vacant possession of premises across Klang Valley, including the largest shopping mall in Malaysia, office units, restaurants, etc. Clientele portfolio includes some of the Top 10 property developers in Malaysia.
Acted for a previous director in a commercial/corporate case pertaining to breach of directors’ duties, breach of fiduciary duty and conspiracy between directors, involving unauthorised transactions above RM7 million and 8 properties in Muar, Johor.
Successfully recovered above RM2 million on behalf of a contractor for works done in international school construction project in Johor Bahru.
Legal advisor for management bodies of more than 5 stratified properties in Klang Valley, rendering advice for by-laws, circulars, notices and the AGM as well as claims for maintenance charges.
For an Intellectual Property trademark infringement claim, successfully achieved an amicable settlement whereby the Defendant surrendered all Counterfeit goods and removed all promotional materials.
Defended a social media marketing agency in the Industrial Relations Court against an unfair dismissal claim regarding alleged poor performance.
In a shareholders dispute, struck out the Plaintiff’s action which did not fulfil the requirements of a statutory derivative action. Also obtained an injunction to prevent illegal and unauthorised operation of a factory.
Opposed an application for custody and access of a child, which was filed by the father who has background of adultery and domestic violence.
Conducted mitigation and bail applications for criminal offences in the lower courts, i.e. road traffic and immigration offences.
Obtained Court Orders for conversion of leasehold title to freehold for properties located in Kepong and Sri Petaling.
Represented a leading senior care service provider and a start-up Pilates fitness centre, both with multiple branches in Peninsular Malaysia, for drafting of Shareholders Agreements, Investment Agreements, etc.
Prepared a Tenancy Agreement for multiple units in a premier office building in Kuala Lumpur for the setting up of a foreign embassy in Malaysia.
Other corporate and conveyancing work include drafting of Profit Sharing Agreements and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Agreements as well as sub-sale property transactions involving individuals and companies, including where the developer/proprietor is under liquidation.

Ms. Kavishree A/P Thiyaga Rajan graduated with an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Leicester in 2020 and subsequently obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2022. She completed her pupillage in December 2023 and was duly admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 16 February 2024.
Ms. Kavishree joined EC Teh & Co. in April 2024 as a Legal Associate. She works closely with Mr. Teh across a broad spectrum of legal matters, including civil litigation, corporate advisory, and conveyancing. Her primary areas of practice include family law, employment disputes, debt recovery actions and non-contentious matters.
